The Nigerian Basketball team, D’Tigers made history yesterday with their first AfroBasketball Title Win.
They beat African superpower, Angola, in the final after making it through on a winning streak with only a blemish of one loss in the whole tournament.
D’Tigers beat the Southern Africa nation 74-65, to win the competition for the first time ever, in what was a rematch re-match of the AfroBasket 2003 final, when the Angolans topped the Nigerians 86-65 in Alexandria, Egypt,
Oguchi was the star player, as Nigeria created history in Rades, on the outskirts of Tunis, Tunisia. They have now secured direct qualification for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, while Angola along with those that finish third and fourth, will claim places in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Also D’Tigers’ shooting guard, Chamberlain Oguchi emerged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2015 Afrobasket championship
