The city of Newark, NJ in the United States has appointed three Nigerians into high level positions in his administration.
Hon. Ras Baraka, Mayor of the City of Newark, NJ appointmented Hon. Ugochukwu Nwaokoro as Deputy Mayor; Mr. Jude Obasi Nkama, Esq., as Judge; and Mr. Evans Anyanwu, Esq. who took over from Jude Nkama as Chief Prosecutor of the City of Newark .
Both Jude Nkama and Evans Anyanwu were sworn in on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 to a great applause from the African community. The African community is very proud of these high level appointments and continues to pray for Baraka’s greater achievement and higher office.
With the appointments, Newark becomes the only city in the U.S. with such high level appointments of Africans. Nkama becomes one of three African-born judges in the whole of the United States, including Judge Oliver Mbamara of New York State.
Mayor Baraka, son of the legendary Amiri Baraka, is the 40th Mayor of the City of Newark and took office on July 1, 2014 for a four-year term.
