Embattled Senator for Ogun-East District, Buruji Kashamu has filed for cancellation of the N20bn libel suit he filed against former President Obasanjo.

He deprived himself of any right to a settlement at the Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday.

The presiding judge, Justice Valentine Ashi, struck out the suit on May 26, 2015, following the notice of discontinuance of the suit filed by the plaintiff.

There’s “an ongoing settlement talks” between himself and Obasanjo and this was cited as the possible reason for filing for cancellation.

But the lawyers who are representing the former President in the suit said they were not aware of such talks.

Kashamu sued Obasanjo on February 6, 2014, for “maliciously and recklessly” publishing a letter titled, ‘Before it is too late,’ addressed to former President Goodluck Jonathan in December 2013.
