Telecommunications subscribers are facing a hard time in Nigeria owing to the operators’ effort to comply with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) directive on full Subscribers Identity Module (SIM) cards registration.
Operators like MTN and Airtel Nigeria have been sending notifications to the affected subscribers to visit their offices for valid identification card to complete their registration.
This happened as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced that it gave the four main telecommunications operators in the country one week to pay the fine of N120 million for their failure to block unregistered SIMs on their network.
The commission had on June 15 warned the telcos to either reregister the SIM cards of some of their subscribers whose data were not properly taken or risked heavy monetary fines.
Many subscribers who did not complete their registration got their telephone lines barred from accessing services.
