The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has suspended Senator Shehu Sani from the party for 11 months. The senator who represents the Kaduna Central senatorial district at the national assembly was suspended for alleged constant criticism of policies of the APC-led government both at the state and federal level.
Sani’s suspension was contained in a letter from the Tudun Wada Ward 6 in Kaduna north local government, signed by the party’s secretary, Ahmed Abdulhamid and the public relations officer, Aminu Alilan on Monday.
The party said that the decision was arrived at after a meeting held on December 27, 2015, which reviewed a subcommittee report on allegations made against the Senator.
Senator Sani was accused of making statements that violated the rules and principles of the APC, and breaking the party into factions at the state level.
The statement also noted that Sani’s statements on national issues were contrary to that of the state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and at variance with that of the state government and the party.
The Kaduna state chapter of the APC had also accused the senator of being in constant confrontation with the state government.
The senator is yet to directly address the issue but has sent out a few tweets which appear to be in relation to the growing controversy.
