The Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki presented a cash reward of N 500,000 each to two First class law graduates yesterday to fund their law school tuition fees.
The Former Kwara state governor launched his scholarship fund which he claims is being funded with benefits from his pension money.
Senator Saraki stated that he deemed the scholarship fund necessary because of his belief that government alone should not be saddled with the responsibility of development.
The senate president who hails from Kwara state said: “Early in the year, as part of my electioneering campaign, I promised our people that my pension as Governor of Kwara State will now be channeled into a scholarship fund for the benefit of brilliant but indigent students in Kwara State.
“My aim is to ensure that the fund is used as a form of social security to support existing State Scholarship Scheme.”
The two beneficiaries, Mohammed Abdullahi Tosin from Irepodun L.G.A; and Adam Mohammed Ndakuku from Edu L.G.A, reportedly graduated from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) with first class degrees in Law and were presented with N 500,000 each from the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Pension Scholarship Fund to sponsor their Law School programme which begins next month.
Sharing the information on his social media account on Twitter, Saraki equally called for well-placed Nigerians to support the less privileged to achieve their dreams.
Individuals who are well endowed & blessed should support government efforts. That is 1 of the symbolisms that today’s occasion represents.

The best resource Nigeria has to propel her development is her human resource. Best brains in the world are in this country.

Let me put it on record that since the commencement of payment of the pension, I have not drawn a single kobo from it.
