Dr. Stella Adadevoh: Nigerian Ebola Heroine Remembered One Year Later

One year after Dr Stella Adedavoh passed away in line of duty, Nigerians have been paying tributes to the woman who tamed Ebola index patient, Patrick Sawyer.

 

Adadevoh died on August 19, while trying to confine the patient to the First Consultants Hospital in Lagos where she worked.

 

Sawyer, an American-Liberian, introduced Ebola to Nigeria when he touched down at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport on July 25 after coming in contact with his sister, who had died on Ebola.

 

The disease infected 21 persons and claimed 9 lives before Nigeria was declared Ebola-free on October 20.
