According to a statement released from the Presidential Villa through the Spokesperson, President Buhari has set up a committee whose sole responsibility will be to recover all government properties like cars, houses, generators and others that are still in the possession of aides of former president Jonathan even after they have left office.
The Senior Special Assistant on media & publicity to the president, Garba Shehu, made this known in a press briefing yesterday.
He said the committee which will comprise of civil servants and security agents, will soon begin to go recover the properties and that the entire process wasn’t designed to embarrass anyone but rather do what is right and fair to the Nigerian people.
“Even here at the Presidential Villa, there are cars and other property belonging to the government which are yet to be returned. The property belongs to the Nigerian people.
We are not trying to humiliate anyone by asking them to return their cars or houses.
Imagine how much Nigeria will save by retrieving and re-using these government properties instead of purchasing new ones for new government officials,” he said.
