Mavin Records head-honcho, Don Jazzy shocked fans by announcing his retirement as an artiste beginning from 2016.
The super-talented producer cum artiste said he would henceforth be operating behind the scenes. This means that the singer will be confined to the production console after sharing the stage for 11 years with some of his artistes.
He made the surprise announcement on twitter…
After making his debut in the 2004 magnum opus hit single, Tongolo by D’Banj, the multiple-award winning producer broke boundaries by becoming the first music producer to successfully crossover into the music stage. Through a conscious effort, Don Jazzy broke the myth that producers were to be confined ‘behind the scenes’ while the artistes take all the shine.
The 33 year old showbiz guru has amassed a large catalogue of music credits as a singer. He has done collaboration with artistes including Tiwa Savage, Korede Bello, Dr. Sid, D’Prince, Wande Coal, Ikechukwu, P Square, Timaya, Iyanya. Some of his biggest music collaborations includes Eminado by Tiwa Savage (featuring Don Jazzy), DoroBucci (featuring Don Jazzy among others), Surulere by Dr. Sid (featuring Don Jazzy), Collabo by P Square (featuring Don Jazzy) and Gift by Iyanya (featuring Don Jazzy).
