Idris Elba was born Idrissa Akuna “Idris” Elba on 6th September 1972),in Hackney, London.His father(Winston) was a Sierra Leonean and his mother(Eve) was a Ghanaian.
Elba’s parents married in Sierra Leone,the father worked in a Ford motor factory,while the mother was a clerk.

He started his DJ career assisting his uncle with his wedding DJ business in 1986,before establishing his own DJ company.
He is a DJ under the nickname DJ Big Driis and a hip-hop soul musician.
Elba left school in 1988 and won a place in the National Youth Music Theatre.
