A former Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi has died at the age of 54 years. Details of his death said that he died in the early hours of Wednesday in his house in ancient town, Benin City.
Online Media, TheCable reports that a member of Keshi’s family confirmed his death on phone conversation. The said: “He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife.”
Keshi fondly called Big Boss lost his wife of 33 years, Kate, in 2015 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He is survived by four children and his mother.
The football Icon is the only Nigerian coach to have won the Africa Cup of Nations as a player and Coach. He won the cup in 1994 and 2013 as a player and coach respectively.
Keshi who was sacked as Super Eagles Coach in 2015, had earlier worked as Head Coach for Togo and Mali national teams.
He was recently planning to join South African League as coach before his suddenly death.
