The head of Ile-Ife kingmakers and second in command to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Solomon Folorunso Omisakin popularly known as Obalufe is dead at the age of 85 yesterday.

The late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade reportedly passed on while the Obalufe was on long sick bed and was later okay before he finally died within the ongoing plans to pick a new Ooni.
When reporters visited the bereaved’s resident yesterday, a lot of people were scared to speak except a relation identified as Chief Iyiola Alowooja.
He said: “I was in the hospital but I was not allowed in. The staff told me to go home and meet the Obalufe, that he has left the hospital.” He said rites had to be carried out before announcing the Obalufe’s passage.
According to source he said his death would not stop the selection of the Ooni and his funeral might even come before the conclusion of the process and its possible that the Lowa of Ife, Oba Joseph Ijaodola, may take over the Obalufe’s functions.
