Several hundreds of Nigerian Shiites on Tuesday took to the streets of three Northern Nigerian states of Kano, Kebbi and Bauchi to protest the continued detention of their leader EL-Zakzaky as well as the killing of their members.

The aggrieved protesters marched on major roads in the city to press their grievances over what some are now describing as extra-judicial killings.

On Saturday, the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Gen. Tukur Buratai, clashed with Shiites at a road block in Zaria leaving at least 60 dead according to a report by Reuters.

Military officials said that the Shiites had made attempt to assassinate the COAS a claim that has since been dismissed by faithfuls.
