Reports circulated at prayer time yesterday, September 24th about the humiliation and disgrace the Sitting Senate president, Bukola Saraki suffered at the hands of a chanting mob at the Eid praying grounds.
Contrary to the reports, the Media Office of The Senate President released a statement denying the humiliation and refuting claims that he was attacked and stoned.
However, a video posted on the Youtube Channel of Saharatv shows people chanting ‘ole’ which translates to thief. At some point in the video, projectiles are seen flying in the direction of the officials vehicles.
Someone is heard saying, “Nkan ti Bukola se o daa. Ole ni Bukola” (What Bukola did is not good. Bukola is thief) at about 1:50 in the video.
Teargas is seen being deployed to disperse protesters.
According to the statement by the Media Office, “The protest was never targeted at him; neither was any missile hurled at him.”
