New reports have just confirmed that the popular Lagos slum #Makoko – the area in Ebute-Metta, beneath Third Mainland bridge- is currently being razed by yet another fire outbreak.
According to Gidi Traffic, the fire outbreak started today, Sunday February 19, and close-up of the pictures shows how quickly the fire spread, razing down the houses and shanties inhabited by mostly timber workers who live at the area surrounded by water.
This is not the first time a fire outbreak would consume the area.
In 2015, the slum inhabitants watched helplessly as fire ate up their shelter and work stations and it took the combined efforts of the fire services department and individuals to put it off.
Now, the tragedy is back again, and from updates on social media, it had yet to be quenched
