Retired brigadier general Jafaru Isa is believed to have received over N100 million from Dasuki, report says.
A former military governor of Kaduna State, who’s a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Lawal Jafaru Isa, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Isa, a close political associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, was picked up by officials of the anti-graft agency on Wednesday night.
The APC chieftain is the first member of the ruling party that has been arrested by the EFCC in connection to the investigation into the alleged diversion of $2.1 billion meant for the procurement of arms, under the last administration.
Isa, a one-time governorship candidate of the defunct CPC in Kano State, is a close friend of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, the principal character in the arms funds diversion scandal.
Premium Times reports that Isa was arrested at about 9pm on Wednesday, at his Abuja residence at Ajayi Crowther Street, Asokoro.
He was reportedly invited last week to appear before the EFCC on Wednesday, to clarify ‘some questionable receipts’ from Dasuki.
