A Lagos-based startup, Wecylcers Nigeria Limited has emerged winner of the first edition of an pitch event tagged #PitchForLagos sponsored by Case Foundation.
It towered above others to win the $50,000USD prize money from a total of nine selected Startups including BudgIT and Mamaletteng among others.
“Exciting representation of young companies across various sectors in Nigeria were selected for the event through peer recommendation and crowd sourcing,” read a statement by the organizers.
The special event which held at Co-Creation Hub in Yaba, Thursday was packaged to to celebrate entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
#PitchForLagos is the brainchild of by Jean and Steve Case, along with the Case Foundation, Co-Creation Hub, EchoVC, Lagos Startup Week and Africa 2.0.
On the jury panel was, Steve and Jean Case–internet pioneers, serial entrepreneurs and impact investors–and joined by Eghosa Omoigui, Managing Partner of EchoVC.
Represented by her highly motivated co-funder, Bilikis Adebiyi-Abiola, Wecyclers charmed its way with the unique ambition to rid Lagos off biodegradable waste.
Wecyclers which now operates from two hubs in Lagos has a simple ambition to “offer convenient household recycling service using a fleet of low-cost cargo bikes. We are powering social change using the environment by allowing people in low-income communities to capture value from their waste.”
